Journal pudge's Journal: Mayor Nickels Vows to Violate Citizens' Rights 3
As the P-I reports, Mayor Nickels is planning to go ahead with a ban on guns on Seattle City land, and damn our rights: state law allows citizens to have guns there, and explicitly prohibits local regulations to the contrary.
Nickels' spokesperson says the city needs more "clarity" on state law. She's lying. We know what state law says, and McKenna's office gave any clarification they needed. What she means is that she is trying to force the overturning of state law through the violation of it.
Nickels is just one more Democrat who does not respect the rule of law.
The P-I story also falsely claims that President Bush allowed the "assault weapons ban" to expire. No renewal of the plan ever came before him. Maybe the reporter and editors don't realize Congress, not the President, makes laws?

Is going to get his ass kicked by the courts.
As you say the law is clear.

problem is, he'll probably get away with it. WA dems (specifically Seattle) have been violating the constitution for years. They can unconstitionall take your land away by saying it's a wetland and you can't even sell it. You can't even put a gazebo near the river in some cases. In Seattle proper they go through your garbage and will fine you if you put your recyclables in the garbage can (search and seizure laws???)
Unfortunately King county is so entrenched with this mindset that not only are they like

The land use laws often don't tend to be very clear cut. In particular courts everywhere tend to take a dim view of those who attempt to overturn land use and environmental regulations on "takings" grounds.
OTOH the State Constitution and State Law is quite clear when it comes to gun rights and state preemption of gun regulation.
There will be at least 6 lawsuits within a week of the Mayor putting the regulation into effect.
