Journal pudge's Journal: The Departed 4

I finally saw The Departed tonight. It was very good, but it had some flaws in it that bothered me.

So the guy gives Bill the wrong address. So what? The right address would have been on the same block and side of the street as the wrong one, and they first see Bill leaning over a dead body in the middle of the street. So Bill showed up at the wrong place, sees the body, and comes over to the right place. Big deal.

Why didn't Bill let his friend from the academy take Sullivan? For that matter, why didn't he blow the whistle while he was still inside the department, instead of running?

The conversation on the CD was recorded in an adult theater, and the voices are crystal clear. so, where's the background sex noises from the film playing at the time?

  • One more nitpick: Costello gives him a red cell phone to use for their communications, but no charger. That bothered me the whole movie.

Heh, I actually noticed that too, but it didn't bother me, because I have bought a charger for a very similar model phone before, and it reminded me that you can pretty much buy any charger for any current phone at a Target or Radio Shack, and even many drug stores.
  • I haven't seen the movie, probably never will, but if you have a insensitive mic you can manage to eliminate a lot of background audio.

It wouldn't work in this case. They were playing the recording loudly, and the voices sound very clear, with a wide range of frequencies. They were sitting in a movie theater; there's just no way the movie wouldn't be very audible on the recording.
