On a related note, I am thinking about eventually doing the same sort of thing..... joining (Reps), being involved in, and then eventually running for those sort of local party offices. Despite me having more of a libertarian bent, I expect that I might not do too bad in my city.

I'd probably run for PCO if my precinct didn't already have one. It probably is just as well since I'm busy enough that I rarely make any of the LD (37th) meetings these days.

BTW I'd like to see both the GOP and the Democrats have active PCOs in every precinct in the state (and the country).

Oh and I have to say I get tired of those who gripe about the direction of one or both of the major political parties. If you don't like it, get involved and att

I don't know about you guys, but we have "Precinct Captains." These are functionally equivalent to PCOs, except they don't get a vote. But they perform the same duties, essentially. They get appointed to be the captain of some other precinct. So in my district, we have two people from one precinct, and one is PCO, and the other is a captain, and the PCO is our treasurer, and the captain is our recruitment chair. In the 44th, the chair is not a PCO at all (her dad is their precinct's PCO). One guy who

BTW the 39th is one hugemoungus district ... looks like most of rural Snohomish county there.

Yeah, and I am chair of the Snohomish County portion, which contains a plurality of the population. Maybe a majority, come to think of it. A tiny portion is in Whatcom (takes up a lot of area there, but very little population) and King (just the Stevens Pass area). Then a decent portion of the population of Skagit. Largely as a result of our very rural population, we have three very good conservative (if you're a conservative!) representatives.

No comment on the reps. ;-)
:p Actually, our two state reps, Dan Kristiansen and Kirk Pearson, are very well-respected on both sides of the aisle, despite having very conservative voting records. The two of them are just really nice and smart guys who work well with others. Senator Val Stevens is also very smart, but she is much more abrasive, and her stances against gay marriage and on other social issues have not earned her too many friends on the left.

Well I really know nothing about the Reps, hence 'no comment'. I know enough about S
