Journal pudge's Journal: "Email voting" 7

I got mail this afternoon, apparently in response to the article from today, which had the subject "Email voting," and read as follows:

What an atrocious idea. Email isn't secure and their are too many people who would want to hack to rig elections to prevent it. I believe we should have all mailballoting or at least paper balloting with counting done by hand just as when there is a recount. This is the only way I would feel comfortable with the results of our elections. I believe that Bush won both times by rigging the votes in Florida and Ohio. Thank you [NAME REDACTED]

I for one welcome our new penis enlarging President.
  • As a resident of Ohio (who voted for Bush), I can attest that other than urban areas in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland, the state is mostly republican. To say it was rigged is stupid.
Please readjust your aluminum hat, mr emailer...
    • Quite right. Ohio is filled with towns. You can't go 1/10th a mile before you hit another town .... in any direction. In idaho that is just unbelievable. You have to drive through 30 miles of desert to hit the closest town to the South from Boise and that is the captial! Ohio has houses hidden everywhere and unless it is one of 4 or so cities, then it is likely to be a conservative town.

It didn't used to be like this. 15-20 years ago it wasn't so crowded in Ohio. Especially in the Rural areas. Now if you head East from Columbus, there isn't that much distance from Columbus' far outreaches and Cambridge, Ohio.

        • The East part is what I have the most experience with. I have family in Knox Co. and that entire area is just non-stop little towns and houses in 1 acre plots.

We have some land in Noble County. Down by us, there is supposedly a Walmart coming. After all the floods, we've got a hotel and a few new small businesses and bits and pieces of new road (and even highway for I-77). I think a Walmart will help spur more growth and changes. It's difficult to say whether the growth is "good". But employment in this entire region is so difficult, it makes frowning upon a Walmart coming into town seem pretty cheezy.
