
Journal pudge's Journal: Helicopter Evacuations 4
Doug Roulstone was at my BBQ on Saturday and told us all a bit about how helicopter evacuations would likely work (he is former commander of the USS Stennis, and used to fly search-and-rescue choppers).
I don't have anything especially interesting or insightful to note about it. But it was interesting, coming from him.

Instead, I have to choose between two $#@!*... (can I call them "idiots" and not be sued for slander and/or libel?): Mike DeWine (R) and some other $#@!*(D) who I can't remember (Brown?).
I wish there was something I could do instead of not casting a vote. I cast a vote for the #2 guy in the primary, but DeWine is just too heavily entrenched in Ohio and the #2 guy lost. I REALLY hope he loses, so that in a few years we

That said, yeah, we're excited about Roulstone. He has had a ton of support from DC (has met with Bush and McCain, has had fundraisers with Hastert and Cheney and Gingrich), and once the campaign really gets going with TV ads, we think he has a great chance to unseat Larsen.

He was part of the Gang of 14. That's reason enough to want him out of office.
(I don't live in Ohio, but my parents have already bought a house near Dayton (in Beaver Creek, IIRC) and will be moving there as soon as their house in Phoenix sells. They'll be switching from one Gang of 14 senator to another...yay. :-P )

I don't get that at all. The Gang of 14 was a huge successs. Yes, it meant we didn't get rid of judicial filibusters, which I agree are bad; however, it also means the GOP avoided a costly PR battle over judicial filibusters, and I don't think that battle would have been won, nor would the removal of judicial filibusters be worth losing that battle, which would be costly in the elections.
