Journal pudge's Journal: Speaking of Ignorance About History 3

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was on The Colbert Report last week. She recently released a new book, and she said that before she started research for it, she thought President Bush's use of religious language was unique in U.S. history.

Um.

Um.

How could our former Secretary of State think that? I would hope that she would know a lot more about U.S. history than I do. Apparently not.

I mean, sure, points for learning and admitting you were wrong, but ... just wow.

Speaking of Ignorance About History

  • If Madeleine Albright had known her history, even post-1950 History, she might not have been so willing to trust a government that technially we are still offically at war with (since only a cease fire was ever signed in 1953) with Nuclear Technology.... of course, I'm speaking of North Korea, where Allbright has admitted getting duped by the N. Koreans.

So this lack of knowledge, sadly, doesn't surprise me.

  • And continues to be a disaster, or would be if she had a position with any actual authority. Fortunately, she no longer has real authority, only the ability to whine ignorantly on whatever topic she fancies herself to be an expert. Most people like to imagine themselves experts about something or another, when usually they haven't a clue and apparently just like to hear themselves talk.

  • Where do you think she got that idea from?

Is she a product of some institutional learning? If so there are many others around like her. So what is more scary, her ignorance or the possibility that such ignorance is a product of a process also educating many other citizens?
