Slash means our life lasts sometime, but there's a limitation like a shooting-star /. Dot means the period of our life, our life is not limitless.

Slashdot started few years ago. Not very old yet. Almost all writers are young enough to keep on writing journals here for some time, but it is not going to last for good.

A hundred years later we will have tens of thousands of shooting-stars that are enough to lighten the dark sky.
