mercedo's Journal: Get Out of Peninsula

This is the name of the new novel written by Ryu Murakami. This novel is particularly interesting in that it descrives a near future society in East Asia, in 2011, and it based on my hometown Fukuoka.

In 2011, Yahoo Dome - this is a retractable dome which has 48,000 audience capacity was occupied by a group of ex-North Korean special commandoes who took hostages inside the dome insists...and so on.

Actually this dome is located so close to the Korean peninsula so it has been said to be used as a shelter for an asylum seeker or refugees from the peninsula in the event of emergency since it had founded in 20 years ago. This novel is said to describe a probable change in East Asia region including altering of national border, subsequently the role of cities change from minor to major or vice versa. Obviously national border has been changing from time to time once or twice in half a century or century, I mean it is not something absolute.

It is just highly unpredictable what would have become of the future scenario of East Asia, but I can feel a strong wind from the west where China and Korea lie in.
