Christmas Cheer

Journal mcgrew's Journal: A Merry Christmas

A week or so ago I was drinking at home with two ladies (as to Tami, I use the term loosely) and as Tami crashed on the couch, the other shared my bed. I'm not going to name names, but she's one that winds up with me when she's mad at her boyfriend.

"Tami's in love with you!" she exclaimed. I can't figure out why she thought so, unless Tami gave her a dirty look as she went in my bedroom and closed the door.

On Christmas eve Leila and I made the trip to Belleville to visit family, and the drive down there was terrible. It was raining hard; torrential rain that made it hard to see. I almost rear-ended an idiot who was driving 50 without his lights on; I was on him before I could see him. Once or twice the car hydroplaned. It could have been worse -- they had predicted snow.

We stopped by my old friend Jeff's for a visit and a joint on the way, then to my sister's, and back home. The trip home wasn't too bad.

Leila's two year old cousin (my great nephiew) kicked her ass boxing. On the Wii, of course. My other great nephew, eight years old (I think) almost beat me in a game of eight ball on my sister's pool table.

It was too bad Patty couldn't make it home for Christmas.

My daughters gave me the newest Star Trek DVD, the one Patty and I had seen in the theater last summer, No Country for Old Men, which I hadn't even heard of but was a good flick nonetheless, and season one of The Big Bang Theory.

I'd only seen one episode of that show. Patty, who picked them out, knows her old man pretty well. The nerd characters in that show seem an extreme caricature of me, and I've been laughing my ass off watching it.

If anyone responsible for that show is reading this, please get rid of that annoying laugh track. It's the only ungood thing about that show!

Christmas day saw snow. My front window looked like a Christmas card.

Tammy came by for most of the day Saturday, and I can't figure out where this thing's going. She's been calling me daily, we're going out to eat at D'Arcy's tomorrow evening, I'd taken her to the Felber's Christmas party, but when I tried to kiss her she pulled back. I can't figure it out. It snowed Saturday, too.

She seems to be pursuing me, but won't let me kiss her. I'm perplexed.

I talked to Patty, my youngest, last night and mentioned Tammy to her. "She's not some crazy stalker lady, is she?"

"I hope not," I said, "your mom was. She made up her mind to marry me when she was twelve."

"I know," she said.

It's the first time since my divorce I feel sorry for Evil-X. Two days before Christmas she suffered a detached retina and had an emergency vitrectomy. I know the hell she's going through!

Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Tami called this morning. "I have some pot for you!"

So I guess she's mad at her boyfriend, and we'll be drinking a little tonight. Hopefully she won't seduce me.

This has been the best Christmas in years!
