Woman reportedly robbed of shoes

SPRINGFIELD -- A 24-year-old woman who police claim was "highly intoxicated" was reportedly robbed of her shoes in the 1200 block of Milton Avenue early Saturday.

Police found the victim near North Grand Avenue and Stephens Avenue about 2:30 a.m., a police report states. At the time she was "highly intoxicated" and told officers that earlier that morning she was somewhere in the Matthew Place mobile home park, 2535 North Grand Ave. East, when a man knocked her down and tried to steal her purse.

The attacker did not get away with the victim's purse but did take her tennis shoes, the report states. The victim was treated at St. John's Hospital for sore feet.
