EA Shutting Down Video Game Servers Prematurely 341

Spacezilla writes "EA is dropping the bomb on a number of their video game servers, shutting down the online fun for many of their Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 games. Not only is the inclusion of PS3 and Xbox 360 titles odd, the date the games were released is even more surprising. Yes, Madden 07 and 08 are included in the shutdown... but Madden 09 on all consoles as well?"

Submission + - Mac calculator is bad at math writes: "vowe has pointed to a couple of videos (here and here) on YouTube which show the calculator application doing some weird calculations with percentages. Apparently, in some locales such as the German one, the OS X calculator application discards decimal digits of the input when the percent button is used (e.g. adding x percent of tax to an invoice sum). All works fine if you do the manual multiplication (e.g. instead of adding 7% you multiply by 1.17). This has spurred active discussion on German news lists (e.g. and at digg. Any /. readers who can confirm this in other locales than the German?"

Submission + - "Hacking" a Fake Snow Day

Class Act Dynamo writes: "Two students in Trenton, Ohio face expulsion from their school and possibly some time in juvie for posting a fake snow-related announcement on the school district website. According to the article, there was no hacking involved. The girls somehow must have gotten the password. It will be interesting to find out how that happened. We'll probably find out next week that it was on a post-it note on the principle's desk."
