I sense a lot of excitment in the responses to this post on the European Parliament vote. But take care - the European Parliament does not make the law in the sense that other national parliaments do, and its vote only counts when the Council of Ministers also agrees with it. This vote, was a committee vote. The committee in this case, is just looking at the issue to determine the European parliament's view, which will be passed on to the European commission, whose job it is to propose and draft legislation. Confused? basically, this vote is not significant in terms of making any laws in Europe.
