Journal jawtheshark's Journal: The mystery of my slashdot signature 6

I'm back.... I have been back for more than a week, but tuned down. Switched of my cellphone, didn't bother to answer my email, didn't do any chat on ICQ, and I just *read* slashdot. Just having some rest... You get the picture. I still have not much inspiration to write something in my journal.

Anyways...it seems that my slashdot signature makes a lot of people thirsty for an explanation: NaveWeiss asked me, and just recently I got an email with just that topic (and this isn't the first time this happened). I will post here what I replied to the guy who wrote me the email with just the question: "Who is Christine Watkins?". Here you go:

Ah...indeed!
Who would be Christine Watkins?

Actually it is a joke on my own slashot nick (the nick I use about everywhere). My nick has quite long history (I've been online for ages) and evolved from "Jaws" to "Jaw" and later on to "jawtheshark" (which seems to be used by noone except me). Why I chose this nick is not really relevant to catch the joke.

You guessed...the signature has to do with the novel "Jaws" by Peter Benchley that has been later turned into a movie by Steven Spielberg. Read the novel if you can, it is way better than the movie.
This still does not answer your question. Well, I now will answer it: Christine Watkins or Chrissie Watkins in the movie (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0073195) is the first victim of Jaws. It's that simple. It is a warning to all other posters not to meddle to much with me for I have a firm "byte" ;-)

Most people don't get the joke.... and you're in no way the first one to ask me who she is. She doesn't exist... She is just a bloody puddle left into the memories of many moviegoers.

Greetings

Jorg A. Willekens (a.k.a jawtheshark)

The mystery of my slashdot signature

  • I saw Jaws, but it's a dumb movie.. and I don't like movies of this sort anyway.

Anyway, you don't seem to be someone whom messing with is dangerous. You are too nice - even your troll account failed to reach negative karma. :)
    • Where did you read that the movie was good? I used to find the movie good, but after reading the novel I changed my opinion. However if you just think that the movie is crap because you don't like the genre then you should broaden your views a bit. And don't even start about special effects: many people tell me that the special effects are bad... well, those people always forget that it was made in 1975 and back then they were state of the art. (Or do you see anyone complain about the crappy effects from the original Starwars?)
Don't even start about the sequels (of Jaws, not Starwars)...those are all crap from a scenario point of view.

Oh, and didn't you notice the "byte".... It's all a joke. I can be really mean if I want to, but I usually don't.

About my Troll account: I reached Karma -3. After that, there was no way to get it lower without using methods of crapflooding, posting the same post 100000 times, claiming that BSD is dead (which is certainly not true) or perhaps even spreading that Steven King is dead. Now, I don't know about you: but I don't have the time to spend that much time on slashdot (I already spend too much time here), besides I find it really a lack of style. Don't think that my Troll account has much Karma, it hasn't ;-)

What is worth doing is worth the trouble of asking somebody to do.

Working...
