Journal jawtheshark's Journal: A date with The Flower Girl 6

I wouldn't really call it a date, because I expected her to show up with a bunch of friends. She didn't. I asked her out to the movies, because I still had my promise to hold to go out with her. So I did. It wasn't easy to select a movie, because she goes way much more to the movies than I do and likes about the same kind of movies. She nearly saw all the movies I wanted to see, so we chose "Road to Perdition". The movie was, okay... not a "must-not-miss", but plain good entertainment.

After that we went for a drink, I took an orange juice (hey, me the hardcore beerdinker), because I know she doesn't like me drinking. We stayed there until about 1:00am, when the pub closed. We talked a lot (well, I did a huge part of listening too *grin*). We went up to the parking lot, our cars were about 5 places separated by each other and we stayed on the parking lot...talking and talking...up until 2:35, where we really decided that it was damned cold and should go home. I was literally freezing my ass off :-) I only had a jeans and a t-shirt you know. Anyway, things went rather well...I was prepared for her this time and didn't feel the love thing anymore. I still think she is insanely pretty, but that will probably never change :-)
I just came home, wrote her an SMS to tell her goodnight and say that I arrived well at home and then I logged in to slashdot to share my evening with my readership.... because franky, nobody replies when I talk technical. How does that come anyway?

Now tomorrow I will really have a problem: I only got fuel for 10km (according to my car's computer and that thing is very accurate), and I wonder how I will make it to the next gas station. Oh, well, trouble for tomorrow... Now two beers, a cigar and off to bed. And I thought I was late: neither my brother nor my sister are home now. Guess, they are having a good time too.

A date with The Flower Girl

  • Say.. was the movie dubbed to German?
According to what I've read, the actors there excel at their stiff expressions.. and the road journey to Perdition is just 1.5 minutes.

And yes, the Sinfest link is very relevant (I also believe that Tatsuya Ishida is evil, but that's another story)
    • No, Luxembourg is a very international country. Only kids movies are dubbed German and French. It is quite an exception, I know that it's dubbed in the french part of Belgium, France and Germany.
But German dubbing is usually excellent. The French suck at it however.

And I love Sinfest! It's a great comic, and the link was indeed relevant :-)

      • Well, we have RTL here, and there's nothing in English there. Everything is horribly dubbed.. like most of Europe. Strangely, it seems that only Israelis, Dutchs(sp?) and Arabs refrain from dubbing non-kids shows (besides of a telenovella which was dubbed to Arabic on MBC, I think).

And about webcomics.. I read Joy Of Tech, Sluggy, Megatokyo and Sinfest. The last 2 aren't much fun always.. especially MegaTokyo which goes anywhere, and has been doing it successfully for around 2 years..
        • We were talking about the movies, not TV. TV is dubbed here, which is logical, they are focussed to the German and French population (yes, RTL is Luxembourgish, but there are many of them, German, Belgian, French). Germans and French people are really losers in languages :-((
The dubbing on the german channels *is* done well. However you'll never think that because you are used to the original voices. I was used to the German voices, and then hearing the real voices was really strange to me. It's all relative you know. I prefer undubbed, but that only happens on very rare occasions.

The best things in life go on sale sooner or later.

Working...
