idan writes "The Protocol Freedom Information Foundation (PFIF), a nonprofit organization that is affiliated with the Software Freedom Law Center, inked an agreement with Microsoft to obtain protocol documentation under the terms established by the European Union's 2004 antitrust ruling. The documentation will benefit projects like Samba that seek to implement support for Microsoft's protocols in order to bring Windows interoperability to open source operating systems."
