Journal eglamkowski's Journal: recipe of the day 1
One a previous occassion, I gave you two fried recipes in one day, today I give you three! Portuguese Fried Rice is trivially simple and great for the garlic lovers out there. Cinnamon Nut Rice is an interesting combination of flavors that works really well, though it is sweet (it uses honey AND sugar!). Javanese Rice is a subtle but tasty fried rice that I make frequently with left over rice.
Portuguese Fried Rice
5 tablespoons olive oil (and it HAS to be OLIVE oil)
2 garlic cloves, minced (or more...)
6 cups cold boiled rice
salt & pepper to taste
Saute the garlic in the oil. Add the rice til it becomes golden brown and add salt & pepper.
Cinnamon Nut Rice
6 cups hot boiled rice
3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 tablespoons honey
pinch of cinnamon (oh, don't be stingy - use up to a half teaspoon if you like
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 cup chopped peanuts, almonds or brazil nuts
Simply combine all the ingredients and toss with the rice.
Javanese Rice
1 small onion, minced
3 tablespoons butter
6 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6 cups of hot boiled rice
Melt the butter in a wok and saute the onion.
Add the cloves and cinnamon and saute for 5 minutes.
Remove the cloves and mix with the rice, tossing well.
Rice (Score:1)
I don't care much for nuts in soft foods. Jello, waldorf salad, etc. I just won't eat it.
