Journal eglamkowski's Journal: recipe of the day

Mmmm... beef... This one is quite good, but a bit sweet. And if you don't like garlic, you can stop reading right now! For today's recipe is: Indonesian Beef with Tomatoes

1 lb rib-eye beef, in one piece
1 large onion
5 cloves garlic (yes, five!)
1 teaspoon black pepper (or more :)
3 tablespoons dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons oil
16 oz. can of whole, peeled tomatoes

Cut the beef into 1/4 inch slices and place into a medium size bowl.

Combine onion, garlic, pepper, soy sauce and sugar in a food processor and blend until smooth. Pour over the beef and mix well.

Leave the beef to marinate for an hour, or overnight in the refrigerator.

Heat the oil in a wok over medium heat and fry the beef. Add the marinade and tomatoes and continue stirring until the gravy is thick, about 7-10 minutes.

Serve hot over rice.
