Journal eglamkowski's Journal: Let the People Decide Clean Campaign Act 2

Eight House democrats (Obey D-WI, Frank D-MA, Delauro D-CT, Filner D-CA, Israel D-NY, McGovern D-MA, Ryan D-OH, Waxman D-CA) are trying to kill off third parties in the House of Representatives (via H.R.4694).

Stargoat take note - Democrats are NOT the saintly champions of everything Good and Holy as you are so desparate to perceive them. In fact, they are just as downright evil and horrible as the republicans. Just in different ways.

In fact, we exactly need MORE third parties in the House, not less.

What this really tells us is that the democrats are worried to death about being wholesale replaced by a third party. You see, there have historically only been two major parties, but obviously not always the same two parties. The democrats know that parties have been wiped out in the past. They don't want to be wiped out in the future. They're running scared and are trying to institutionalize their existance before its too late (for them).

Oh sure, the bill doesn't actually refer to the Democratic and Republican parties by name, but we all know what the results of a bill like this would be in practice.

Unfortunately, I expect the constituents in those districts won't even be aware of this bill, and thus these idiot representatives will continue to be re-elected forever and ever in perpetuity. Indeed, Obey has been around since 1969 and most of the other sponsors also have a decade or more in the House.

As if the incumbents aren't already advantaged enough, now they want to make sure they have EVEN MORE of an advantange.

Bastards.

And that's coming from the democrats, Stargoat - the DEMOCRATS.

Don't regale me with how saintly and annoited they are.

They're scum.

  • We limit the total pool of money available. And you get your allocation based on how your party did in the prior presidential election.

IOW, minor party candidates for the house get no funding. From any source. And thus, minor parties are structurally prohibited from gaining strength. Since the funding model is laid out in such a way as to cut the knees out from under a growing party.

Dr. Evil has nothing on these guys.
  • I could never get the hang of Tuesdays.

I am in total, 100% agreement with you.

    Feels kinda weird.
