How does one define "minimum?" I think the Senate has the responsibility to get their questions answered, subject to some very reasonable guidlines.

In this specific case, the obvious intent of the Founders was to balance the other two branches against each other. If they just wanted the resident of the White House to simply and directly appoint the federal judiciary without any "interference", there was no reason to involve the Senate at all.
