Perl 6 Implementaion Rakudo Star Released

Submitted by rnddim
rnddim writes "The Perl 6 implementation Rakudo Star has been released today for 'early adopters'. This release of Rakudo is different from the normal monthly compiler releases in that is it bundled with a draft of a Perl 6 book, and several modules. It's not complete, and it's not as fast as it should be, but Rakudo in its current state is proving to be usable and useful. Rakudo Star releases will come monthly or as major features or bugfixes are made. It is available for download at github.com."

It also scores 100/100 on the Acid3 test."

The best of today's tech April fools-> 1

Submitted by
Barence
Barence writes "PC Pro has an updating tally of today's best April fools from around the world of technology. The early leaders are Opera's brilliant Face Gestures ("Face Gestures makes surfing the Web as easy as smiling, batting an eye lash or flaring a nostril"); Google's teenage girl AI project CADIE; and a rather tasteless death-based corker from UK retailer Laptops Direct."

Browsers to get Face Gestures capability-> 1

Submitted by
cstrep
cstrep writes "Eight years ago, Opera introduced Mouse Gestures as a way to speed up your interaction with the browser, and focus on what's important: Content. In 2005, Voice Navigation was introduced, and more recently we've worked with Nintendo to create a browser that takes full advantage of the "Wiimote" and later, the touchscreen in the DSi.

Today Opera introduces Face Gestures, a revolutionary technology designed to make interacting with Opera easier on computers with cameras. Face Gestures lets you perform frequent browsing operations with natural and easy to make face gestures. By using an internal technology dubbed Face Observation Opera Language, we are able to recognize pre-determined facial expressions and match them to commands on the Opera browser."
