Journal Journal: Question for all the Money Savy Slashdotters
Ok to start off, I'm a college student who is sick of getting hammered by my bank's fees. I am looking for a new lending institution who will offer me decent services without charging me fees for everything.
All of the online banking ratings I have found use data from 2005, and with the recent banking turmoil, and changes in the industry its just not applicable any more.
I want all the normal stuff major banks give like online bill pay and a check card, but I don't want to pay $35 for an overdraft, I don't want to pay $1.50 to walk into the bank to speak with a teller, and I'd love a bank who will kindly rebate ATM fees and not charge any of their own. I also don't have lots of money, so I can't afford to join a bank who will charge me for having less then 1000 in my account. I am up for using an online bank, or a brick and mortar as my paychecks do come in direct deposit form.
So I call out to all you money savy Slashdotters, what bank is offering the best deals for consumers like me, or is there a place I can find the rankings?
Thanks!
Chris
