+ - Ask Slashdot: Can some of us get together and rebuild this community? 21

Submitted by wbr1
wbr1 (2538558) writes "It seems abundantly clear now that Dice and the SlashBeta designers do not care one whit about the community here. They do not care about rolling in crapware into sourceforge installers. In short, the only thing that talks to them is money and stupid ideas.

Granted, it takes cash to run sites like these, but they were fine before. The question is, do some of you here want to band together, get whatever is available of slashcode and rebuild this community somewhere else? We can try to make it as it once was, a haven of geeky knowledge and frosty piss, delivered free of charge in a clean community moderated format."

I think there's merit to your post, but I substituded 'cop' for 'black guy' and your sounds bigoted to me. It may be important to generalize and stereotype, but take care to recognize it.

Paragraph with the substitutions:
People believe black guys are bad because black guys do so many bad things. They have not taken responsibility as a group and purged their ranks of bad black guys, so people will continue to assume that every black guy is a bad black guy. This is the only rational assumption to make, because many of them are bad people, and they have power over you. Thus, you must be on your guard against bad black guys, and you must assume that any black guy interaction will go wrong.

I root all of my Android devices and install the DroidWall app. It allows me to block network access to any app regardless of whether you give them permissions when installing. It's allowed me to download and use many apps that I would otherwise not have used because they wanted network access. It even lets you decide if you want to block the app on WiFi, cell data, or both.

Naturally the manufacturers would like the SSRIs to be something you take for the rest of your life, but there is some suggestion that they are best used as an adjunct to cognitive therapy and then tapered after a while.

Would you mind giving a citation for this statement? I'm sincerely interested because this sounds exactly like the situation my friend is in.

If Blackberry plays their cards right, this could be the best tablet on the market. You could get Blackberry's reputation for integration and security in a corporate environment, Android's plethora of apps, flash support, and maybe, just maybe Netflix would make a Blackberry native app since it can have DRM. The iPad lacks Flash. Android lacks Netflix. Playbook might be the answer to both of these problems.
