Journal bethanie's Journal: [Meme] Enneagram Quiz, Fun for the Whole Family! 10

First noticed from bellus quies's journal. Quiz is here. Personally, I think for a 2-question assessment it makes some very good points. Not *all* about who I am, but more on target than not.

the Asserter
you chose AY - your Enneagram type is EIGHT.

"I must be strong"

Asserters are direct, self-reliant, self-confident, and protective.

How to Get Along with Me
  • Stand up for yourself... and me.
  • Be confident, strong, and direct.
  • Don't gossip about me or betray my trust.
  • Be vulnerable and share your feelings. See and acknowledge my tender, vulnerable side.
  • Give me space to be alone.
  • Acknowledge the contributions I make, but don't flatter me.
  • I often speak in an assertive way. Don't automatically assume it's a personal attack.
  • When I scream, curse, and stomp around, try to remember that's just the way I am.

What I Like About Being an Eight

  • being independent and self-reliant
  • being able to take charge and meet challenges head on
  • being courageous, straightforward, and honest
  • getting all the enjoyment I can out of life
  • supporting, empowering, and protecting those close to me
  • upholding just causes

What's Hard About Being an Eight

  • overwhelming people with my bluntness; scaring them away when I don't intend to
  • being restless and impatient with others' incompetence
  • sticking my neck out for people and receiving no appreciation for it
  • never forgetting injuries or injustices
  • putting too much pressure on myself
  • getting high blood pressure when people don't obey the rules or when things don't go right

Eights as Children Often

  • are independent; have an inner strength and a fighting spirit
  • are sometimes loners
  • seize control so they won't be controlled
  • figure out others' weaknesses
  • attack verbally or physically when provoked
  • take charge in the family because they perceive themselves as the strongest, or grow up in difficult or abusive surroundings

Eights as Parents

  • are often loyal, caring, involved, and devoted
  • are sometimes overprotective
  • can be demanding, controlling, and rigid

  • This test labeled me an 8 as well, but I'm actually a 3. Try taking the real test [enneagraminstitute.com] to see if your results hold out.

Wow! What a crock of shit! I've taken many of these types of tests in the past, but never one with so many questions where neither of the available answers was even vaguely appropriate. Anyway, I came out as a 5, slightly ahead of 1 and 9.

      • I found the tests ended up describing what you do, not who you are.

Yes, I spend a lot of time reading, yes I spend a lot of time problem-solving, etc, and I enjoy that. But these aren't what makes me tick - what really "floats my boat" is being able to help a friend; I use the information and skills to do that. Given a choice between reading a book or helping a friend, the book is not at all as interesting.

The funny thing is I've accumulated a few friends with the same mind-set in terms of what's really

    • I got the same result. Labelled 8 by the minitest, but a 3 by the full test. A bias in the minitest?

      Type Three [enneagraminstitute.com]

      The Achiever
The adaptable, success-oriented type. Threes are self-assured, attractive, and charming. Ambitious, competent, and energetic, they can also be status-conscious and highly driven for advancement. They are diplomatic and poised, but can also be overly concerned with their image and what others think of them. They typically have problems with workaholism and competitiveness. At their Best:

  • I was labeled an 8 as well. Not all things are correct, but most of them are.
  • I'm a seven: the adventurer. I think I'll take the full test, like SlashChick recommended, because I felt every choice of each question described me to some extent.

I'll post the real results in a JE later.

  • Pretty accurate, although not 100%.
  • Doesn't quite capture my stoicism, but otherwise a fairly accurate test for being only 2 questionss.
