Journal asv108's Journal: Getting LASIK 1

You might remember that about 2 months ago I had a journal entry discussing LASIK. After going for a consultation and doing a few hours of research, I decided to go ahead with the procedure. My surgery date is about two weeks away, September 17th. It should be interesting Journal material.

The testing to see if your a good candidate for LASIK is pretty time consuming. I had to spend about 3 hours at my eye doctor's place. I had to get a scan of my eye, then my vision was tested, then I was dilated, then I watched a video, then I was tested again by the guy who will be performing the procedure.

The procedure itself will only take around 15mins, but it will end up being an 1.5 hour ordeal because of form signing, waiting, etc. I will be sure to post my experiences and the results. Hopefully I won't be reading /. with a braille terminal :)

LASIK? Get LADAR. That's the same procedure, only with a RADAR tracking system monitoring 1,000 points on the surface of your eye every second, guiding the laser doing the actual cutting. If you let your eye wander a bit, it compensates. This allows widening of the treated area, lessening the liklihood of halos, which are caused by lack of focus at the edge of your field of view. LADAR was developed (of course) to the level of commercial availability ar

The unfacts, did we have them, are too imprecisely few to warrant our certitude.
