Sony has been hit hard on all fronts for the last few years and making a loss from the PS3 is nothing surprising. As is the 360, the console itself was never intended to make money, that's softwares role. And it has been classically. Console gaming is an unstoppable force, all the casual games in the world can't compare to a good video game. It's like saying an episode of "How I met your mother" is a good enough substitute for Star Wars.
