Journal Trolling4Dollars's Journal: 110 Minutes 26

That is the length of Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11. I went to opening night last night and brought eight friends with me. The theater was packed. All shows were sold out. It was a beautiful thing.

I know there are people out there who think that this movie is awful because of the potential damage it does to the Bush administration. Some people are going so far as to say that this movie is propaganda. To those people, I say, consider the fact that since Bush took office and even moreso after 9/11, we've been subjected to hunrdeds of thousands of minutes of right-wing propaganda: Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Fox News and their ilk. To make matters worse these people are foisting propaganda as "news". At least, Moore has the tatse and propriety to call his production a simple documentary.

To anyone who is curious about going to see the movie, I urge you to go see it. If you have any heart or compassion, and any sense of what it means to be a true patriotic American, this movie will resonate with you. If you have any Republican family and friends, they need to see this movie too. Buy them a ticket. Make sure they see what their boy is really doing. This movie is worth every cent. Last thing, make sure that you get people to register to vote in 2004. Now, more than ever before, we need to get people on the anti-Bush ticket.

Note to anyone who responds negatively to this JE: bite me. I don't have time to rebut anything currently an I'm not going to try. Before you criticize the film, at least go to see it.

To everyone else who is invested in getting Bush out of office in 2004: "Let's Roll!"

Just reminded me of that crappy (read exploitative) Neil Young song ...

In other news, strippers across America have shaved their nether regions in an effort to get the word out - "Read my lips - no more Bush".

(Before anyone flames my for mysogynism, that was forwarded to my by one of my sisters)

    • I just used the "Let's Roll" thing because Bush said it There's nothing more satisfying than using your enemy's idiocy against them. Personally, I think it's a stupid line.

        • have you tried SuSE 9.1? I was critical of SuSE in the past, but this is light-years ahead of anything else in the marketplace

          What makes you say that?

I know in the past that SuSE has been more technically polished, but Mandrake has been the leader in i18n, which is what I think is most important for the developing world. I'm curious as to whether SuSE has matched or approached Mandrake in non-Roman character-based languages.

I agree. It was very emotionally powerful. I think my favorite part was the beginning (about the 2000 election); as a piece of film-making, it was almost perfectly executed. There's good reason why it won the Palme d'Or.
However, there were parts that dragged on too long or where I thought Moore could have done a better job making his point. The Bush/Saudi connections were harped on for far too long. I think he could have spent time better on other issues.

that almost everything in the movie is factually incorrect, right? And everything that he implies can't be farther from the truth (ie. Taliban coming to Texas with Bush's blessing, his 43% vacation rate (really 11-12%), the bs about how Gore would win the election that's near the beginning, (the NY Times and CNN found otherwise in 2001) etc, etc, etc.

You might want to take a look at all the easy debunking that is going on. Even my wife who is pretty damn liberal (and really enjoyed Bowling for Columbine) found F9/11 to be just plain ridiculous.

I took off my blinders and went and saw what Micahel Moore likes to pretend is the truth... do you want [moorewatch.com] to take [moorelies.com] off yours [davekopel.com]?
    • Blinders? What blinders? ;P I can't take any site seriously that endorse Bush or the Republican party, so that knocks out the first two. I'll take a deeper read of the last one, but it looks like more spew from libertarians. I know what my politics are and I'm sticking to them. As much as I don't like it, I'm voting for Kerry as Bush is completely counter to my values and ethics.
      • Oftentimes the stronger one holds to a belief the more they hear what they want to hear. Those who saw f911 but went in with an agenda, IMO did one of two things:

        a) they bought it all hook line and synch and took Moore as gospel
        b) they saw the whole movie and dismissed it all as bunk

both ponits of view, IMO reflect the real danger: watching that movie with a closed mind that isn't willing to be critical.

I found the movie to be factually correct in most points that he made (though Moore's website now has
    • Yesterday, I noticed a CNN report [cnn.com] about the anti-moore site www.moorewatch.com posting bittorrent links to the movie F911. The moorewatch.com site is interesting. I wonder if the people behind it realize how stupid they were by doing that. They in fact ended up helping more people watch F911. It doesn't make sense. They are thinking that they are hurting Moore by reducing movie ticket sales - when in fact Mr. Moore is not concerned about revenue from the movie (but his distributors are) - Mr. Moore wan

Here's a quote for you, from this article [msn.com]:
Joe Conason has calculated that up until Sept. 11, 2001, Bush had spent 54 days at the ranch, 38 days at Camp David, and four days at the Bush compound in Kennebunkport--a total of 96 days, or about 40 percent of his presidency, outside of Washington.

Before blindly accepting anything, just consider this: Bush took over on Jan 19th. From then till Sept 11 is about 9 months. On August 6th he went on a month-long vacation to C
