Journal TechnoLust's Journal: Review: Ice Age 1
First of all, a couple of the previews are worth noting.
1) Star Wars Episode II. Yeah, I saw the trailer on Fox the night it came out, but there's nothing like seeing on the big screen.
2) Scooby Doo. I LOVE Scooby. I have ever since I was a kid. So does my girl and her kid. This movie looked great and we can't wait to see it. If you haven't seen any info about it, it is a live action movie with a CG Scooby. And... guess who is playing Shaggy? Matthew Lillard! I'm a huge Matthew Lillard fan... and he was a very convincing Shaggy. Also the ever beautiful Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne. Definitely a must see for all scooby fans.
And the movie... It started out a little slow, for about the first 10 minutes. Then it got funny... then interesting... then I found myself actually liking this movie. It actually had a plot that was easy enough for the little ones to follow and still involving enough for the adults. <SPOILAGE>(OK, so you can figure out that the Tiger [Dennis Leary's voice - he did an excellent job.] will start liking them and not betray them. And that he won't die. It's a kid's movie, it has to have a happy ending. </SPOILAGE> There is a Star Trek reference and a Titanic reference and some snowboarding and the story of how the Do Do birds became extinct. If you haven't seen it, you should, even if you have to borrow a kid.
*sigh* (Score:2)
*sigh* My days of borrowing kids are past. Instead we're gearing up for the "loaning kids" side of the industry--our first model is still in field testing, but he was just (~30 minutes ago) quiet through all of "Big Trouble" (which we'd recommend) so it won't be too much longer.
Thanks for the review.
