Journal Some Woman's Journal: Huh. You don't say. 8

The thermal conductivity of apple sauce is 0.692 watts per meter per Kelvin.

I need some sleep. Appendices just shouldn't be this fascinating.

Huh. You don't say.

  • How do you measure apple sauce by the metre? Does the cross sectional area not affect the thermal conductivity? Thinking about it, I guess not. Perhaps I need more sleep too. But then I've only just woken up...
    • You could go by how far a two-year-old can fling it across a kitchen floor. Three meters, easily...
    • Maybe it's like Fruit by the Foot [generalmills.com] only instead it's "Apple Sauce by the Meter".

      That could be...

      What?

    • Conductivity is all about the thickness of the applesauce layer (think about heat transfer through, not across). The real question now is: did they use chunky or smooth applesauce?
      • Do you think chunky or smooth apple sauce would have better thermal conductivity? I'm going to take a wild stab and speculate that chunky applesauce would conduct heat better.
      • Smoothe.

If you used chunky, there might be uneven areas in the layer that might cause inefficiencies in the heat transfer.

Of course, I'm talking out my butt...but you probably knew that, already.
  • There is something wrong with you, my dear... get some sleep and remember to close the curtains before you turn the light on. I worry that in your exhaused state, you'll forget!

  • Did you burn yourself on the applesauce?
Do you have a crush on Kelvin?
Do you own shares of the electricity company?
