Journal Short Circuit's Journal: AoR: Adventures of Ralek #1 2

Preamble: AoR is going to be a series of journals following my current D&D character, Ralek. I made an audio recording of the session, and I'm working on transcribing the session in an episodic short-story format. The writing style should improve with further episodes.

Name: Ralek
Race: Dwarven
Gender: Male
Height: 4'1"
Weight: 135 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Red
Class: Cleric
Diety: Moradin
Alignment: Lawful Good
Typical equipment: Scale mail, large wooden shield, warhammer, wooden hammer holy symbol
Special note: Ralek only speaks Dwarven and Celestial. He does not understand or speak Common.

Ralek has to urinate, and can't communicate with the human gaurd, who doesn't understand Dwarven.

A keg bounces in, breaks, and drenchs Ralek. (The keg had been liberated from some local tavern, but the handlers dropped it, and the bouncing mass rolled through the door and busted against the wall.)

Ralek may be a man of the cloth, but he's still a dwarf. With a shout, he rushes to salvage as much of the frothy drink as possible.

Afterwards, though, he _really_ needs to go. He shouts, "Are there any other Dwarves here?"

From the fighters hall, someone shouts, "Ho!"

"I can't tell these cursed people to let me to the latrine!"

A dwarf approaches, and explains to Ralek's needs to the gaurd. Ralek's needs are addressed.

Name: Voltor
Race: Dwarven
Gender: Male
Height: 4'0"
Weight: 141 lbs
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Dark brown
Class: Fighter
Diety: None
Alignment: Neutral
Typical equipment: Scale mail, large wooden shield, Dwarven waraxe, Shortbow

"Yo, Gaurd." A pause, "You can't understand a thing I'm saying, can you? Grr." Ralek signals to the other dwarf to come over and assist him. Through the other dwarf, Ralek makes it understood that he's ready to fight at the 300 gold level.

The gaurd asks, "What does he want to fight?"

Ralek requests to fight something undead, but is told they don't have any left. "So what do they have?"

"Humans. Slaves. Prisoners. Rapists, murderers."

Ralek doesn't want to fight slaves, so he requests the rapist for 300. He then asks the dwarf his name. The dwarf looks at him and says, "Voltore. And yours?"

"Ralek"

Ralek is led up the stairs to the arena. There is another man in the arena, carrying a sword. The two square off at five feet. Ralek raises his hammer, and swings. The swing is deflected by the man's sword.

The man swings, and misses. Ralek swings, and drops his hammer.

The man swings, and connects, leaving a gash in Ralek's arm, causing him to wince. Ralek grabs his his hammer, swings, and misses. Not even close.

The man swings, and misses. In the stands, Voltore shouts, "Come on, Ralek! Kill him already!" Ralek swings, misses.

The man swings, and it glances off Ralek's armor. Ralek swings, and connects solidly with the man's chest.

The man swings wildly, and misses. Ralek swings, and kneecaps himself.

The man swings, and connects solidly with Ralek's shoulder. Ralek collapses.

Losing blood, Ralek drifts into the realm of the unconscious, as his body rises and drifts to the edge of the arena. The arena mediwizard has saved his life, but he will get no gold for this match.

So...What did you think? There's several more battles from that session alone, including one where Ralek wound up battling a wyrmling with Voltore, and one where he battles the 7 keystone orcs.

I wish you the best of luck keeping track of it all this way.

hopefully Ralek's adventures are less eventfull than Krendal's adventures are.

I fired up a wordpress install to try to keep up with information for Krendal, its just not happening. Krendal is a one on one character with the DM. I keep some notes, the DM keeps some notes and we try not to forget anything. Or in other words I gave up on the wordpress install. I update it sporadically now.

Its tough when a character is on the path to becoming a go
    • I made an audio recording of our Saturday session. The upside? I've got it all. The down side? The action goes so fast, I have to keep pausing and rewinding, so it takes longer to review the session than to actually play it. (I'm getting pretty good at recognizing different voices and die rolls based on the waveform in Audacity; finding the exact place I have to resume playback is getting easier and easier.)

The ugly side? I have to listen to the entire session, including all the humor, dirty and otherwis

The absence of labels [in ECL] is probably a good thing. -- T. Cheatham
