Real World Stuff's Journal: Friends List Wiped...Again

Once again, my friends list has been wiped. Previously it was wiped save for my "fans". This meaning that the only friends that remained were the ones that were fans. This was prior to the resource munging Friend Fan Foe Fuck lists. When I asked Taco/Mike in IRC they indicated I should submit it as a bug. I asked what type of bug. I got the usual FOAD nonsense that I wasn't 1337 enough to understand. Mike suggested it was an automatic deletion because I exceeded the 200 friend cap by use of a script. I remarked that it is impossible to "exceed" the cap due to the nature of a cap. That is the limit. It was inferred my logic wasn't 1337 enough and I wouldn't understand the intricacies (my word). Truth told, I hadn't used a script, I manually added friends to my list to watch journals (for various reasons). Although, if someone was to write a script that objectively added friends based on the "subjective" quality of their comment, my mood at the time, whether or not looking at their journal warranted my time, and if they had a clever nick. LET ME KNOW! I'll pay cash money for the script that reads my mind. None of that neural network stuff either. This has to be hacked together PERL. Damn heathens, ever seen Ruby?

That being said, being capped out again at 200 friends necessitated friend removal (inactive journals);I promptly faced the the catch-22 friend loop. I needed to remove a friend because I had 200 but couldn't remove a friend because I had 200. Well, silly me makes noise regarding this and asks about a possible solution, or if I recall correctly asking what component of the "pedestrian untested hacked together piece of shit dyslexic excuse for a procedure" was causing this loop. Resulting in this. Fortunately, I am still messaged regarding journal entries. Thus, although I can not filter based on my relationships, I can still monitor journals. Now to rebuild my friend list with new friends. I like to look to the bright side and remark that now I potentially have twice as many journals to follow.

As long as you have that journal list, you can rebuild, like I did [slashdot.org]. Just click each name and then alter relatioinship. Yeah it sucks and takes for bloody ever, but at least I have green dots again. :-)

I'm still not sure what it means at this point... so I'm not going to add any friends just yet to be sure they don't wipe the old friends list. I can still see the pills meaning my old friends list exists somewhere... I just don't know where...
