An anonymous reader writes "Terrorist gunmen claiming to be from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria have stormed the building of a French publication Charlie Hebdo that had recently published a cartoon of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The gunmen are known to have killed eleven hostages so far and the situation is still ongoing. Currently, the BBC has the most information out of English news outlets. French speakers can consult the headline at Le Monde for more current news."

An anonymous reader writes "Black-clad gunmen shouting "Allahu Akbar!" stormed the Paris offices of a satirical publication known for lampooning Islam Wednesday, killing 12 and injuring as many as 15 before escaping, French officials said.

As many as three Kalashnikov-toting shooters were being sought following the 11:30 a.m. attack at Charlie Hebdo, the publication known for challenging Muslim terrorists with a 2011 caricature of Prophet Muhammed on its cover and which recently tweeted a cartoon of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Two policemen and several journalists — including the cartoonist behind the weekly publication's provocative images, were among the dead.

“We’ve avenged the honor of the prophet!” the killers shouted"

This law isn't to prevent you from taking pictures. Its to make it harder to take pictures with a very specific class of devices without being noticed.

The problem with this approach is that cell phone cameras are improving in quality. In a few years they will be good enough that many people will want to use them as their only camera.

Now imagine a wedding ceremony with 200 beeping cameras.
