Journal: Changin' ways of Slashdot 2

Journal by QuaintRealist

Anyone care to comment on why people post "Slashdot has gone down hill" comments so often? I don't miss much about the "old" slashdot - the trolls, page-wideners, links that misled... OK, once /. felt more like an exclusive club than it does now, but that feeling didn't last long.

Does anybody really miss the old days enough to remind me what I'm missing? I did take a pretty long hiatus...

Journal: Enough is enough

Journal by QuaintRealist

I saw a post today from a user who has "been with slashdot from the first days" (with a low enough userid to make his assertions possible) stating that he's fed up with the editors of slashdot and will never read it again.

All self-important gits are hereby invited to bugger off. If you don't like this site, don't read it.

There, now I feel better - isn't that what journals are for?

Journal: Different points of view

Journal by QuaintRealist

On my old account I managed to get modded out of existance for listing the "wrong" people as friends - kept me off /. (except as a lurker) for months.

Journal: Today was different

Journal by QuaintRealist
Logged on today to find that someone had listed me as a "friend" - the first one on this account. I had an account years ago, when I was younger and more flame-prone (no, I'm not telling which one). Time and a couple of kids do mellow one. So now, I am a old-style realist, softer around the edges (thus the ID). No foes yet (had many on the old account), far fewer friends as well. Life lends perspective...
