online poker security flaw found

MarsBar writes "Lucky Donut's blog (a good read even if you're not into poker, by the way) reports on his discovery of a (now fixed) security flaw in Microgaming, one of the largest online poker networks. It turns out the application was passing username, password and account balance in the clear over the internet. Ouch!"

MarsBar writes "In the latest round of what's become an almost-panto-style "yes they do", "no they don't" argument, the BBC is reporting that the Danish Institute of Cancer Research's survey of 420,000 cellphone users has found no link between phone use and increased risk of cancer. Let's hope this will quieten the mad mast-bashers a bit."

New Sony Bravia Ad Goes Live

Following on from the incredible balls-in-san-fransisco effort last year, this video involves footage of whole buildings (parts of Edinburgh scheduled for demolition) being spray-painted with explosives to the tune of The Thieving Magpie.

The site includes behind-the-scenes footage and full hi-def quicktime movies."

Carphone Warehouse buys AOL UK

MarsBar writes "The BBC is reporting that The Carphone Warehouse is to buy AOL's UK operations. They've paid £370m (about $650m) for the deal, which — at about £175 per subscriber — sounds fairly cheap. It's likely that CPW are attracted by the number of LLU subscribers, which could increase the speed of CPW's own LLU rollout, required for their TalkTalk "free" broadband offering."
