Locutus writes "The media has fallen for one of Microsoft's FUD techniques, creative naming. This time, CNN Money repeatedly calls Microsofts Office Open XML pseudo specification "Open Office XML". Somewhere through the process of moving MS-OOXML through the ECMA, Microsoft? recommended shortening the name to "Open XML" even though the actual specification is called Office Open XML. If you think the PHB's were confused before, just wait til they try to read this CNN Money story.

CNN Money fell for this and all over the page they talk about "Open Office XML" when they should be saying 'Office Open XML' and should really be saying 'Microsoft Office Open XML' to keep it clear who designed/wrote/paid for the specification.
