Journal KoriaDesevis's Journal: Interesting experience in the store yesterday 1
I saw something rather fascinating yesterday when I was out shopping. I was in a department store with my best friend, where we were met by an enormous man (enormous in that he was very tall and rather stout) that could not have been more friendly if he tried. He was very nice, extremely helpful and in a particularly good mood. After finishing with us he went on to help other customers. A few moments later we heard a conflict brewing behind us and turned around to see this same man, toe to toe with a customer. He was chewing out the customer: "Don't you ever cuss at me again!" The customer was trying to act cool and bad and all, but this salesman could have easily snapped him in half if he had the notion to do so. Instead, he stared him down and basically dared the customer to swear at him again. The manager finally intervened and, if I am not mistaken, escorted said beligerent customer from the store.
My first thought was that the salesman deserved a handshake for not putting up with any crap from an arrogant customer who thought that, because he was a customer, anything goes. You don't see this kind of thing very often, and I was delighted to see someone actually stand up for what he felt was right.
Gloomy day here. I am not at all pleased. I think I am starting to feel ready for spring to get here. Warmer weather will mean more time outside for walks. I could use some time down at the lake as well, watching the geese.
Today holds another busy day in the office for me. We have a new guy starting this morning, and I am looking forward to meeting him. I am not sure what project to which he will be assigned, but it will be interesting to see if he can add a little more variety to the discussions in the cube farm.
Politeness (Score:1)
It's gloomy here (Dallas) today, too, after a beautiful day yesterday. I like the rain sometimes, but the flat gray gloomy weather is tiresome. On the plus side, we were supposed to get heavy thunderstorms overnight, but they apparently will hold off until tomorrow.
Always good
