This is fun..
I've been playing with this thing for days now.
I actually got it to kernel panic. I've been playing with various modules to get my network device(s) working. I have yet to get any actually recognized, but they're all not quite what the doctor ordered.
I got the OS from a few friendly P2P softwares, so I can upgrade to the current (something DirecTV doesn't officially approve of).
DirecTiVo only uses TiVo v3 (or v3.x)..
Stand-alone TiVo's (like, everyone else uses), use v4, which is suppose to have new whiz-bang features, but more importantly, it has the new network drivers, and a newer kernel.
Now for my biggest problem.
I have shows on here all the way back to December 2004. I haven't seen most of them. There are some that are scheduled to record tonight, so I'm putzing around, watching recorded shows, and waiting for the current shows to record, so I can watch them.
Then I can start swapping drives around again, and screwing things up.
