Journal GMontag's Journal: Shoe Shine at the Pentagon 2

Well, my adventures yesterday took me to the National Guard Readiness Center, the Pentagon, Crystal City and Pentagon City mall.

Driving to "The Mason Street Armory" (Arlington Hall) in Arlington, VA was quite the chore. Left at 7:45 and arrived just in time to meet my customer at 9:00. Completed that meeting by 11:30, so drove to Pentagon City Mall to park, hiked to the Pentagon (Five Sided Wind Tunnel), stopped by the gift shop to get my son something cool and discovered that they have a shoe shine stand! Way cool! $3.50 for a regular shine on black cowboy boots, plus $2.00 tip.

Went back to Pentagon City Mall for lunch, then over to Crystal City for another meeting (details on Friday maybe, plus some irony), was the first time I was in "the underground" in the middle of the day. Pretty impressive. Then back to PC Mall to kill time until some friends showed up at a bar there for a couple of beers.

  • I loath driving down there. It gives me The Fear. Damn self-absorbed DC freaks too busy yapping away on their celly slurping some latte driving their Land Rover and oh yeah gunning it to 175 miles per hour from light to light, which is usually, what? Half a city block down there.

You know what also kills me driving down there? Those retards with diplomatic tags. I treat any vehicle that has a diplomatic tag as if it were on fire and ready to blow. I just get out of the way.

Now, give me ballmer city driving
    • Dude - I'm 100% with you. At least in Baltimore, all the bad areas are close together, and ALL cars should be treated as though they were on fire and ready to blow. Don't forget about the EVER useful bums washing your windows with newspaper and a bottle of urine.

I refuse to drive in EITHER city, but at least in Baltimore, I can get back out of the city without requiring $200 worth of body work once I leave for the day.
