Man With Martial Arts Weapon Arrested At Midway (Chicago Municipal Airport)
Friday Oct. 24, 2003, 7:35 a.m.

CHICAGO (AP) -- A 35-year-old man was arrested at Midway Airport after causing a ruckus on an inbound flight with a martial arts weapon, police said.

The unidentified man was aboard Southwest Airlines flight 1233 Thursday when he pulled the weapon from a violin case and began pacing inside the plane.

I predict the "Kill Bill" defense, similar to the GTA defense for shooting at the interstate. [nasal Chicago barrister voice] "Your honor, my client recently saw the movie "Kill Bill" which depicted numerous martial arts weapons on commercial airliners . . ."[/nasal Chicago barrister voice]

  • In a more civilized age, gentlemen carried swords everywhere and ladies walked the streets without fear. Weapons of any kind are only a threat to public order when the decent law-abiding folk are forbidden from carrying them.
    • I agree.

A well armed soceity is a polite soceity.

Still the wing nut in question shouldn't have been scaring the mundanes on the plane.
    • I quite agree. if more people were armed these days and not deathly afraid of the legal consequences (and lawsuits for "emotional damage to family of the 'victim'"), there would be less crime.
