The Limbaugh Affair

Wow, this being your own news guy is soooo much easier. Not so many pesky links to every other word required.

So, through my dilligent research I have constructed a timeline for the Limbaugh affair.

1. Housekeeper and her husband decide to deal illegally in otherwise legal prescription drugs while she (the housekeeper) was employed by Rush Limbaugh, radio personality.

2. Housekeeper and husband come under investigation by the local police for dealing illegally in otherwise legal prescription drugs after she (the housekeeper) is no longer employed by Mr. Limbaugh, national radio personality.

3. Housekeeper and husband hire a lawyer and begin the cooperation process with the local police in the wider investigation of the illegal sale of prescription drugs. Some rumours/reports are that this cooperation is in trade for leniency.

4. Sometime after the housekeeper and husband begin cooperating, Rush Limbaugh is named as one of their customers.

5. Somehow the National Enquirer is notified that Rush Limbaugh has been named as a customer of the prescription drug dealing couple.

6. Some amount of money in the hands of the housekeeper/husband drug dealers, approaching $200,000, is explained as the sum of two cash payments through a third party, supposedly originating from Rush Limbaugh.

7. The police confirm with several news organizations that Mr. Limbaugh has been named in the prescription drug investigation.

Amazing! Somehow, a high profile subject of a drug investigation is being alerted through the National Enquirer that he is the subject of an investigation!

Also, the business of huling a suspect in and getting them to name other names for leniency is well known, even in the Leftist press. It is cited frequently when the purpose serves the writer. Haven't read/heard a word about that angle in any reporting on this case.

Cops: "Come on, if you give us the names of your big name customers we will go easier on you. Where did you get $200,000 in cash?"

Dealers: "Rush Limbaugh"

Cops: "Oh come on! Where would you meet Rush Limbaugh?"

Dealers: "I worked for him."

Cops: "Did he grope you?"

Dealers: "No, we have never been to California. I have never worked for Mr. Arnie"

Cops: "Who else did you sell to? What about the governor"

Dealers: "It was just Mr. Rush, he was our only customer, we swear. Have we ever lied to you before?"

Cops: "Okay, but Chief Moose does not work here, so you get to make the media deals yourself. The Enquirer is on speed dial, here is a phone."

Dealers: "We need our attourney to negotiate that deal, can we write down the nimber and pass it to him?"

Cops: "Here you go, now get out of here and keep your noses clean."

Dealers: "Thank you Mr. Detective, we are so greatful and we love your country. We will keep our noses clean! We only deal pills and liquid, nothing bad."

Me thinks this story is full of facts that do not mean anything. I will not be surprised if it evaporates and I certainly will not be surprised if the police run it all the way to the arrest stage either.

  • will all of the "news outlets" that are hyping the story non-stop spend even 10% as much time issuing retractions, and saying that Rush was innocent when it is shown that was the case?

Yeah, that was one of those rhetorical thingies.

    • Doesn't look like these guys [palmbeachpost.com] will need to.

It's possible they might do that.

It's about as possible as pigs sprouting wings and taking to the skies.

(Yes, I know the question was rhetorical.)

As has been pointed out by many this story may be true and it may not.

On the other hand it's not impossible that Rush might have (or had) a pain pill addiction. The heavy duty stuff is fairly easy to get addicted to.

Still even if it does turn out to be partially true, I suspect there is much BS in the story. Also if it is true I hope he gets the help he needs.

I will agree that this story is mostly a distraction from far more important things.
