Journal GMontag's Journal: Don't forget my birthday in October! 1
A retrospective review of the classic "Fahrenheit 451" (it turns 50 in October) can be found here Ray Bradbury's Dystopia "Fahrenheit 451," 50 years later. BY JOHN J. MILLER Wednesday, May 14, 2003 12:00 a.m. EDT (painless regestration may be required). "Amid this prodigious output, "Fahrenheit 451" is the book for which Mr. Bradbury will be best remembered. Perhaps that's because the concept is so unforgettable: In the near future, firemen don't put out fires; they start them instead. Books have been outlawed. When they're discovered, first responders hurry to the scene. The title refers to the temperature at which paper burns." Lots of other interesting Bradbury info there too. BTW, for you Centegrade fans that is about 233 degrees (don't be picky, different kinds of paper burn at slightly different temps). I am not as familiar with the book as I am with the 1967 movie, since the former can get just too hot for me to handle ;-)
Okay, it is the birthday of the name I use for my handle and I will not yet be 50 for many years, but what the heck.
