US Army to wikify field manuals->

Submitted by
Dram
Dram writes "In July, in a sharp break from tradition, the Army began encouraging its personnel — from the privates to the generals — to go online and collaboratively rewrite seven of the field manuals that give instructions on all aspects of Army life. The Army seems willing to accept some loss of control. Under the three-month pilot program, the current version of each guide can be edited by anyone around the world who has been issued the ID card that allows access to the Army Internet system."

House Overwhelmingly Supports NASA Authorization->

Submitted by
Grant Henninger
Grant Henninger writes "The U.S. House of Representatives send a strong message to the next president that Congress supports NASA and it supports human space exploration. In a 409-15 vote, 181 Republicans joined 228 Democrats to approve the measure. 15 Republicans voted against it. The bill authorizes $20.2 billion in 2009 NASA funding (the White House proposed $17.6 billion), that includes funds for climate research and for closing the gap during which the United States would be dependent on other nations for human access to space and cargo access to the International Space Station. "We're really on to the next administration at this point. That's 99 percent of our focus," said U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo, who helped write the bill."

That's why I voted for Power Consumption. I want a server that uses as much electricity as possible. That's why I have three old desktops in my living room acting as 'servers'. They don't really do much, I have my printer hooked up to one and the other I use for BitchX, the third doesn't really do anything at all. But they are all there, using as much power as possible.
