Denney writes "The Official Google Blog is reporting that Google has released Gmail Mobile Client, a version of Gmail which can be downloaded on to your mobile devices. In addition to the expected abilities to receive, send, and delete mail, you can also use it to search your Inbox and view your attachments (this is a pretty neat feature: it appears that when you try to view your attachment, it will convert the attachment into HTML pages and show it on the screen). The blog also claims that you can "click to call your Gmail contacts". And all this can be with "a bare minimum of clicking and scrolling". When I tried it out on my Blackberry7290, I had to manually refresh the Inbox in order to receive new emails. On the 'Settings' page, there is an option to automatically refresh the Inbox, which was turned on (perhaps I just didn't wait long enough to trigger the automatic refresh, even though I waited about 5 minutes). Of course, automatic refresh is bad for those who do not have unlimited-data plans. The confusing part about the interface is that you have to click on 'More...' on the main menu to get to the sub-menu which contains the 'Settings' option. The convention on Blackberrys is that clicking on 'More...' will download more data (more emails in this case). The Settings also enable you to be signed-in all the time, and to switch between small and large fonts. Also, you can use the 'Labels' you have created in Gmail, though I didn't see an option to create new labels. Composing emails appeared to be a painless process and the interface is neat and simple, as expected from Google."
