Comment Stop crying, haters (Score 1) 2

I'm an Australian and I get sick of all the crying over tech prices. If you don't like it then don't buy it. We're not communists, it's a free market! And why does Apple have to explain its prices? They make products that people are willing to pay a lot of money for. When someone else comes up with something better and cheaper, the customers will decide what they want. Simple!!!

Submission + - Aussies beware - Mandatory net filter almost here. (arnnet.com.au)

Condobolin writes: Another story from this site I was looking at before, but a lot less happy..... In Australia we have a crappy internet minister that is always carping on about BS, but it looks like "Conjob" is about to get his way and force internet filters on every single house in Aus. He used to always say it depended on the trials, and the trials are looking really good for him. Here's the story: http://www.arnnet.com.au/article/312354/isps_give_clean_feed_filter_technical_green-light But more important, here's the site to fight it! http://www.getup.org.au/ If you're Australian, Kiwi, American or even North Korean, don't let hiim put this BS in!!!

Software Holds Cell Phone Calls While Driving 452

An anonymous reader writes "Canadian company Aegis Mobility has developed software that detects if a cell phone is moving at 'car' speeds. If so, the software, DriveAssistT, will alert the cellular network, telling it to hold calls and text messages until the drive is over. Calls are not blocked entirely; callers will be notified that the person appears to be driving, but they can still leave an emergency voice mail, which will be sent through immediately."

Asus Launches Touchscreen Eee Desktop 157

Barence writes "Asus has launched an Eee-branded 15.6" touchscreen desktop PC as a budget rival to HP's TouchSmart. Available for pre-order now on Play.com for £399.99 ($749), it shares much of the same specification as the Eee PC, but with a larger 160GB hard disk. Interestingly, it's listed as coming with XP installed, so we'd guess Asus will be using some sort of proprietary touchscreen interface — yet the image on the site clearly shows Linux on the screen, which may be a better bet for an easy-to-use touch system."
