Journal BlackHat's Journal: Dutch Bottoms 1
With over 42k JEs here just on slashdot. I note with mirth MonTemp'ies Late Edition has a BBC wank saying it is the end of Free-Undirected-Online-Journalism. I dont think we all have worked/figured out all the good parts yet. Blogging is a new egg. Boiled or fried someone will read it!
This JE is going to be yet more on History, but the texttoon and the above are not too far from the subject. First a quote to help frame where I will be going today.
"Most of their principal towns are sadly decayed and instead of finding every mortal employed, you meet with multitudes of poor creatures who are starving in idleness." J. Boswell 1764
E. N. Williams adds this of the kinds of backlash from the problems hinted at above;
"...The murder of the De Witt brothers in 1672 is only one instance of this[revolt inspired by predikants]. Such revolutionary situations taught the Regents and the more respectable burghers to have no truck with the practice of Democracy, however much they were forced to use its language at times as a counter-weight..."
Periwig and/or golden age. Whatever you wish to call the first global economy it was Dutch and they had it all. These gains did not go un-noticed by the others and within a 100 years from the start of it all in 1650 to the end in the 1750's they lost it all. It only took 14-25 years after that point to hit the skids as Boswell notes above. Then the English take the helm and will soon lead the whole world in to what I call The First World War(1753-2003 and counting). You may know the first round as the French and Indian War(1754-1763) and some of you might have a good argument to include King George's War(1744-1748). I do not as I suggest that the communication speed needed and distances were still too great. So in an odd way that makes this day (roughly) the 250th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

I'll let you off of the wack misspelling... (Score:2)
