NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) & Psychosis

Submitted by AdetheRare
AdetheRare writes "A friend of mine has a diagnosed condition of psychosis, for which he is taking medication as prescribed by his doctor. Recently a "friend" of his has apparently convinced him to try NLP, but what's somewhat more disturbing is that he has told him that he doesn't want to be dependent on his meds and he needs to have a few days clear of them if it's going to work... So, my friend being his usual trusting self, has decided to stop taking his meds and go all out for the NLP.

This friend of his is also apparently starting his own business soon as some sort of NLP therapist.

Now, my personal feelings about this situation aside, I'd like to ask you all if:

1. NLP is really at all effective for treating psychosis?

2. Is it a good idea to stop taking prescribed medication while undergoing NLP treatment?"

Has she done anything illegal? Not really. Is it irresponsible? Yeah probably. Does she have *way* too much time on her hands? Definitely...

destinyland writes "Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York is developing flexible nanotubes inserted under the skin to create a handheld display — inside your hand. They wirelessly receive data and display reminders and text messages, and the concept has also been broadened to suggest endlessly programmable digital tattoos, while Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics is also exploring the concept of the body as 'a platform for electronics and interactive skin technologies'."
