Lehigh University, posted on arXiv
a paper claiming to prove the (infinite time) existence of
solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations: Immortal Smooth Solution of the Three Space
Dimensional Navier-Stokes System . This is one of the Clay
Institute's seven
Millennium Problems, which include other famous problems such as the Poincare
Conjecture and P=NP. A mathematician at the City University of New York has summarized the work. Could it be that in a ~13 year period we will
have seen the solution of 3 of mathematics major problems — Poincare,
Fermat and now Navier-Stokes ?"
