If people are so stupid to believe that ivory will cure them of whatever, why go to all the effort to sell them actual ivory? It doesn't sound right, nor add up. I'd hazard a guess that we're simply being told that the Ivory is going to the uneducated, but rather it's really going to the highly educated mega-rich.

For me, if you can customise the UI, then I'm happy. And since I can customise the ribbon, I'm happy to use it.

In my support role, years ago, when the ribbon was new, I used to see a lot of hate out there for the ribbon which I put down to the fact that people tend to hate change. But these days, the users that I support have figured out the ribbon, all memorised & customised, all using it daily (in applications not limited to MS) without complaint.

There's always one though... that user(s?) who carries on hating the ribbon is the same user who is too lazy to learn it. Too lazy to spend the time figuring out how to customize it. And are too busy at work for you to teach them, yet somehow find time once a fortnight to complain for hours on end about how much they hate Microsoft because of this or that... It's easier for them to blame someone else for their mistakes. But they couldn't possibly be the problem, it's the new ribbon, that's only been out 5 years now!

Like anything & everything, there are pros and cons. It's all about weighing up what's what, and at the end of the day, knowing your enemy.

My Opa hoarded after the war. His garage was so full of stuff, he even pulled nails out of old railway sleepers then put the nails in a jar, just in case he might need them one day! Upon his passing, even a garage sale didn't put a dent in his collections of nuts, bolts, nails, pop rivets, all in their own jars & labelled up. Now, in reflection on myself, I've been playing Guild Wars for ~6 years and boy have I got stuff! 9 characters with filled storage, all inventory storage slots purchased & full...But I think if I were to pass away with my children inheriting my Guild Wars account, they'd take one look at it, then go back to their Playstation 7's and their Nintendo 512's.

But in saying that, my aunties & uncles spent months reminiscing in that garage, their heart glowing with every new jar of washers opened, that jar summarizing my Opa's character, saving for a rainy day. Like physical items, I think a will & the families should have the last say of what goes to who regarding digital media.

I don't believe that I've ever bought a game for any of my Gameboys that was 99 cents. Heck, even looking at games that are a year or so old are an absolute bargain on Steam (although my laptop is not as portable as a Gameboy).

Nintendo is doomed if it continues to price its games in the traditional sense.

Don't say that... I've just started using it as a temporary measure until I find something that fits the groove that iGoogle is leaving!

I keep smirking as I read through the comments of /.'ers who state that they'll consider writing their own replacement for iGoogle. Can you guys combine forces, or something, make something really worthy? Call it, iSlash, or something...

iGoogle has been a staple to my internet for quite some time. The little panda & fox wall paper used to cheer me up on shit days, kinda like the day I had when I read on iGoogle that they were nuking iGoogle.

Real men build their own PC. Why buy a desktop in store, when you can order all the parts from the cheapest vendor online, then build the computer yourself? Here in Australia, we use;
