Comment Before the WINEing starts.. (Score 4, Insightful) 951

Hell, I like to make things run on WINE, that's a game in itself!, but untill Joe Sixpack can drop in DVD / Download-and-play-with-one-click, LINUX gaming will struggle. (Remember even WINDOWS gaming is too hard for a lot of people, with DX updates, various runtimes, licensing, etc,etc .. thus, IMHO, console sales)

Wifi? That's nothing!. For REAL world-changing Aussie IT, look no further than Product Activation! ,
which won a massive $388 million payout (Mostly from from Microsoft). And then lost. And then won again, and then lost again, and then a sorta 25% win or something..

I mean, come on!. Imagine life WITHOUT product activation. Microsoft products just wouldn't "feel" the same. It's the core technology of their whole solution!

On a date, I broke out the Space Hulk ... but bear with me - it's instant romance - with some good mood lighting, a candleabra dripping with wax, a few good bottles of red wine (in metal goblets of course), some good gregorian chants on the stereo. . (The candlelight is important, as it means that she can't see the terrible paint job I did on the little figurines. I'm told chicks dig artists.)

I live near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It's bleached. Dead. Its one of the saddest things I have ever seen. Lots of tourists coming over asking where the "colorful" reef is, like in the brochure. I reply "oh, like in the 80's? Your 30 years too late". If you want proof of global warming / ocean acidification, look no further.

Well maybe not too late, but just in time.

Today, Australia's government implemented a "Carbon Tax". Funnily enough, the ultra-right-wing opposition fearmongerers have been explaining the devistation to australia if we implement such a tax. (Coal companies will lose profits! Gasp!)

Amen, Brother. One of the best (& under-rated) games ever. Battlefield: Vietnam was (is!) a wonder.

You could do a lot more interesting things in BF:V than in any modern game. Airlift tanks & boats with choppers. Dig "tunnels". Tuneable radio stations. Punji sticks. Bouncing bettys. Hell even back in bf 1942 could could DRIVE aircraft carriers and submarines!. Where's that now in modern games???? Also - a good wild strafe with an m60 WOULD kill someone if they were in front of you. None of this "lucky I can take 5 hits at point blank" rubbish. Men were men and death was quick. Keep your head down if you want to live. We seem to be going backwards.
