When building a new initiative (usually a platform of some sort), customers of the platform are defined and their requirements are incorporated into development plans. However, every customer's schedule requires delivery (built upon said platform) before the platform has even been costed. Is this a consistent industry experience? If so, it seems like we (the engineers) have a problem we need to solve, aside from the problems our software actually solves. Thoughts from the community?"
