Submission + - Toshiba develops worlds fastest embedded DRAM (newlaunches.com)

Gary writes: "Toshiba today announced that it has realized the world's fastest circuit technology for embedded DRAM for System LSI, achieving a speed of 833MHz at 32Mb density. The technology will be applied to graphic processing LSI. To realize high speed operation, Toshiba applied a "pseudo two port system," a technology that virtually divides the overall memory into two and then reads and writes data in parallel and alternately."

Submission + - Truecrypt 5.0 encrypts the OS partition

An anonymous reader writes: Truecrypt 5.0 has been released. Truecrypt is open source disk encryption software. It encrypts and decrypts disk I/O on the fly, can mount encrypted container files and partitions and provides plausible deniability. New features in 5.0 include system partition encryption with pre-boot authentication for Windows, a MacOS X version, much increased speed due to pipelined I/O, more secure hash algorithm and block encryption mode and a GUI for the Linux version.
